The Story of My EEG

Dispatches From Seizureland

Each day for the past four days, I've had seizures. Not the full-blown, as-seen-on-TV total body jerking and contraction thing that we think of as seizures. Those are called tonic-clonic seizures and I've had two of those while in the hospital. I don't remember a thing about them, but you can bet that my beloved was holding my hand the whole time.

A Big Old Brain Update, Now With Seizures

Hello loves. Last week I had a post-op checkup to see how my back is healing from the surgery I had to fix a compression fracture in my lumbar vertebrae two weeks ago. Easy peasy, basically. I’m a Liver Lover

Today I was scheduled for a second immunotherapy infusion, but we had to postpone because my liver is "irritated". I'll bet. But my liver numbers based on yesterday's blood draw are dicey and I have to get them back within an acceptable range before I can have another infusion.

Back Surgery for my Compression Fracture

Back surgery. It was to fix a compression fracture in my lumbar spine. Waiting so long wasn't going to work for me.

My Re-Birthday: Immunotherapy, Elixir of Life

Hey hi hello my loves, today I received my first (of four) infusions of immunotherapy through a clinical trial. We refer to it as my magical elixir, since it takes the brakes off the immune system and sets it free to go after anything that doesn't belong in my body. Like cancer.

Brain Surgery: An Initiation

This brain surgery was a spiritual initiation. I'm convinced of that. I feel deep gratitude that I am still here, still alive, surrounded by big love, and with what feels to me like an opportunity to finally live life the way I always dreamed. I am a lucky one.
